List of groups and activities

Altar Servers Contact Heather Nolan if you would like to join the team of Altar Servers. Both boys and girls are welcome.
APF Boxes If you would like a Collection Box for the Association of the Propagation of Faith, contact Maureen Meek.
Ashford Hospital If anyone in your family is in Ashford Hospital, please ensure that Francis Castledine, the Hospital Chaplain, knows so that she can visit them. She can be contacted via the Hospital switchboard 01784 884488.
Charismatic Prayer Group Meets on Sundays 7.00 pm in St Joseph's Chapel to give praise and thanks to God, to read the scriptures and to intercede for the church and the world.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word Sunday Friends (4-8yrs) meet every week at the 9.30 am Sunday Mass.
Followers (8-11yrs)
meet on the first and third Sunday of each month, except during Advent and Lent where they meet weekly, at the 9.30 am Mass.
Church Cleaners Clean the church once a week. Contact Mary Boyle if you are able to help.
Church Flowers Flowers are arranged every Friday morning. Contact Joan Nash if you able  to help.
Church Gardens Contact Gavin Boyle if you are able to help him with the upkeep of the church gardens.
Churches Together St Michael’s Church works with other local Christian Churches towards the unity of the church for which Jesus prayed. Contact Anne Shenton for further information.
Collection Counters Count the collection money once a week. Contact Kathy Lee if you are available to help.
Confirmation Preparation Confirmation Preparation for young adults in academic year 9 or above. The programme for these candidates begins sometime in April, culminating with their confirmation in July. An invitation to potential candidates is normally announced by the Parish Priest in January.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Contact Tess De Souza if you would like to become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

First Holy Communion Preparation Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for children in academic year 3 or above. The programme begins in January.

Folk Group Provides music and singing for the 9.30 am Sunday Mass. Meets in St Joseph's Chapel on Fridays at 7.30 pm for rehearsal. Always looking for new members, whether to play an instrument  or simply to sing with the group.
Fundraising Committee Meets monthly to discuss fundraising events for the Parish.
General Intercessions Writers If you would like to join the small team who write the General Intercessions for Sunday Masses, contact Tess De Souza at prayers@stmichaels-ashford.org.uk 
Gift Aid/Planned Giving If you are a tax payer and sign a Gift Aid agreement, all the offerings you give to the parish are increased by 25p for each pound as the parish can then reclaim the tax already paid on your offerings from the Inland Revenue. Housebound and Sick Parishioners Housebound and sick parishioners who would like to receive Holy Communion should contact Gavin Boyle.
Ladies Circle A social group that meets every two weeks on Thursdays at 8.00 pm in the Parish Hall.
Lourdes Redcaps Young adults(14+) interested in going to Lourdes as part of the Westminster annual Pilgrimage during the 3rd week of July to serve as Redcaps/Reds please contact Clive De Souza.
Mission Fund The Mission Fund is directed towards helping and supporting children overseas who are in need.
Organist Sheila Nolan is available to play the organ at funerals and weddings.
Parish Council Is a group of parishioners who advise and support the Parish Priest. They serve as a vehicle of dialogue and communication between the Parish Priest and the parish community and those who minister or help in the parish. Click here for more information

Repository Situated at the back of the church. It is open before and after Masses on Saturday evening and Sunday and Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Rosary Prayer Group Meets every Thursday at 7.00 pm in the Presbytery to recite the Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and for spiritual reading.

St Michael's Seniors Parishioners who are retired meet the second Friday of the month in the Parish Hall from 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm for tea and fellowship.
Transport If you are unable to make your own way to church, we can arrange  transport for you.
